1.1 Test Types
ProCalV5 allows for the addition of different “Test Types” to the database that may be applied to any item master record whose required calibration does not fit perfectly into the typical ProCal template. Test types may be used to provide specific testing in addition to or instead of a standard calibration with target set points and as found/as left readings. Examples of some calibration test types that ProCalV5 normally could not accommodate efficiently are extreme values, linearity and standard deviation tests.
1.2 Set Up Test Type Packages Screen
The Set Up Test Type Packages screen (shown in the figure below) is used to add, modify and if necessary delete test type packages from the database. This screen is invoked by selecting the “Set Up Test Type Packages…” option on the File menu when the System Options and Defaults screen is open.
1.3 Adding New Test Types
To add a new test type to your database you must first copy the required library file “FormEntryTest.bpl” into the folder labeled “bin” under the ProCalV5 directory (typically “C:\Program Files(x86)\Prime Technologies\ProCalV5\bin”) in Windows Explorer. The “FormEntryTest.bpl” file contains all the information necessary for the test type’s automatic and proper setup in ProCalV5. Once the file has been copied into the correct folder you may launch the Set Up Test Type Packages screen. To launch this screen you will need to Select File from the top of the screen in the main menu then select System Options. Once you’re in the System Options and Defaults screen, select File from the top of the screen again then select Set Up Test Type Packages. Once the screen is open you may click the ‘Add New Record’ button or select “New Record” from the screen’s File menu. This will invoke a browser screen titled Choose New Package File that automatically directs you to the “bin” folder in which all the “.bpl” files reside. Select the required file “FormEntryTest.bpl” and click the “Open” button or double-click the file name.
Once the correct file has been selected you will be returned to the new test type record which will already be set up for you. In this instance, you can save the record, making it available for application to all types of item master records in the system (i.e. instruments, loops, systems, test instruments, in addition to any PM records that may require a calibration). Once a test type has been saved to the database and has been marked as ‘Active’, it will be available for selection on the Test Type field’s drop-down list on the Calibration Points tab in all screens where that tab exists.
Although you will have no ability to change the test type’s calibration requirements, you do have the ability to make some customizations to it in terms of field label changes and also giving users the ability to edit target setpoints and such when entering calibrations using that test type. Please reference section 8 of the user manual for information on modifying test type packages once they have been imported into the database.
1.4 Distributing Test Types
Test Types only need to be installed in the System Option and Defaults screen once, but for all Client, Administrator, or Mobile Workstations, the “FormEntryTest.bpl” file must be present in the “bin” directory one level down from the ProCal V5 installation directory.
1.5 Creating User Defined Variable List Types
The Form Entry Test Type already comes with one default selection (Optional/Required 60-Char Comment) but others can be added from the creation of User Defined List Types. From the Home screen select Tools → User Defined Lists → Edit List Types… See figure below.
The name of the List Type will be available on the Master Record’s Calibration Points tab when the Form Entry TTP is selected.

2.1 Applying the Form Entry Test to an Instrument Record
The following assumes that the user has created the appropriate UDV’s to complete the calibration process using the Form Entry Test TTP.
The user will navigate to an Instrument Record and select the “Add New Record” button or open the “File” menu and select “New Record”. Enter the necessary information needed for the Instrument Record and then navigate to the ‘Calibration Points’ tab. Select the ‘Add Group’ button, then select ‘Form Entry’ from the ‘Test Types’ drop down. The Calibration Points tab refreshed to look like figure below
When populating the ‘Form Entry Test’ the user can configure numerous types of ‘form entries’. Each entry takes the form of a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ question. Each of the ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ questions can be associated with an additional comment. That comment can be associated with a User Defined List or an alpha-numeric comment limited to 60 characters. Each comment can be set as ‘Required’ or ‘Optional’ depending on the needs of the user. The user can create any combination of ‘Optional’ or ‘Required’ comments for both ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ responses. See figure below. Follow the instructions below to populate the Form Entry Test
Enter data into the ‘Entry’ column within the ‘Form Setup’ section. Expand the drop-down menu in the columns titled ‘Prompt On Yes’ and ‘Prompt On No’.
Select the ‘Add Entry’ button and perform the previous instructions for each entry necessary for the Instrument Record. Once finished the Calibration Points tab should resemble figure below

3.1 Entering a Passing Calibration Using the Form Entry Test
The User will navigate to the Calibration screen and select the ‘Add New Record’ button. The User will then select the ‘Item Type’ and ‘Item ID’ of the item being calibrated. Next, the User will navigate to the ‘Test Results’ tab and select the ‘Perform Entry’ button. This will open the ‘Form Data Entry’ screen. See figure below.
Enter data relevant to the calibration being performed and select the ‘Apply’. Once complete the ‘Form Data Entry’ screen should resemble figure below.
Close the ‘Form Data Entry’ screen and return to the ‘Calibration’ screen. Select ‘Pass’ Fail’ or ‘Incomplete’ per the results of the calibration and save the record.
3.2 Pass/Fail Criteria
The Form Entry test type will cause an As Left Failure to occur if:
• Any ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ response is left blank upon hitting “Apply”
• Any Required Comment / Selection is left blank upon hitting “Apply”
3.3 Entering a Failing Calibration Using the Form Entry Test
The User will navigate to the Calibration screen and select the ‘Add New Record’ button. The User will then select the ‘Item Type’ and ‘Item ID’ of the item being calibrated. Next, the User will navigate to the ‘Test Results’ tab and select the Perform Entry’ button. This will open the ‘Form Data Entry’ screen.
The user will enter data into the Form Data Entry screen but will leave any required ‘Comment / Selection’ blank. When the ‘Apply’ button is selected a warning message will appear. See figure below.
At this point the user can close the ‘Form Data Entry’ screen and mark the calibration record as failed.
