Test Types
ProCalV5 allows for the addition of different “Test Types” to the database that may be applied to any item master record whose required calibration does not fit perfectly into the typical ProCal template. Test Types may be used to provide specific testing in addition to or instead of a standard Calibration with target set points and As Found/As Left readings. Examples of some Calibration Test Types that ProCalV5 normally could not accommodate efficiently are Extreme Values, Linearity and Standard Deviation Tests.
Set Up Test Type Packages Screen
The Set Up Test Type Packages screen (shown in Figure 1) is used to Add, Modify and if necessary Delete Test Type packages from the database. This screen is invoked by selecting the “Set Up Test Type Packages…” option on the File menu when the System Options and Defaults screen is open.

Adding New Test Types
To add a new Test Type to your database you must first copy the required library file “BioSafetyCabinet.bpl” into the folder labeled “bin” under the ProCalV5 directory (typically “C:\Program Files\Prime Technologies\ProCal V5\bin”) in Windows Explorer. The “BioSafetyCabinet.bpl” file contains all the information necessary for the Test Type’s automatic and proper setup in ProCal. Once the file has been copied into the correct folder you may launch the Set Up Test Type Packages screen. Once the screen is open you may click the Add New Record button or select “New Record” from the screen’s File menu. This will invoke a browser screen titled Choose New Package File that automatically directs you to the “bin” folder in which all the “.bpl” files reside. Select the required file “BioSafetyCabinet.bpl” and click the Open button or double-click the file name.
Once the correct file has been selected you will be returned to the new Test Type record which will already be set up for you. In this instance you can save the record, making it available for application to all types of item master records in the system (i.e. Instruments, Loops, Systems, Test Instruments, in addition to any PM records that may require a Calibration). Once a Test Type has been saved to the database, as long as it is marked as “Active”, it will be available for selection on the Test Type field’s drop-down list on the Calibration Points tab in all screens where that tab exists. Although you will have no ability to change the Test Type’s Calibration requirements, you do have the ability to make some customizations to it in terms of field label changes and also giving users the ability to edit target set points and such when entering Calibrations using this Test Type.
Distributing Test Types
Test Types only need to be installed in the System Option and Defaults screen once, but for all Client, Administrator, or Mobile Workstations, the “BioSafetyCabinet.bpl” file must be present in the “bin” directory one level down from the ProCalV5 installation directory.
Entering Item Records Using the Bio-Safety Cabinet Test Type Package
When creating a new master record that uses the Bio-Safety Cabinet Test Type, the Test Type must be applied to the record through the Calibration Points tab on the master record screen. Once a new group has been added to the record, click the Test Type drop-down list and select Bio-Safety Cabinet from the available Test Types, as shown in Figure 2

Once the test type has been selected, the inputs will change according to the settings defined by the library file. This Test Type package will be used to certify Bio-Safety Cabinets. When this Test Type is selected from the drop down list, all Input Signals, Output Signals, Stated Accuracies & the Grid will disappear. In addition the “# Cal Pts” field is not accessible, and the “Calculate” & “Restore Defaults” buttons are inoperable. The “Group Name” field is still active.
Show Group Options
Selecting this button activates the “Additional Test Type Inputs” fields where the user can format the Test Type.
Additional Test Type Inputs
Below is a list of all available Additional Test Type Inputs and a definition of each. This field is accessed by clicking the Show Group Options button on the right side of the screen. This grid is shown in Figure 3.
Actual Intake Area Length & Width
These fields should be filled in for all Tests. This is for the measurements of the intake area. All readings are in inches.
Back, Front and Middle Downflow Velocity Max & Min
These fields are for the “Zoned” test and will set the acceptable limits for each zone. All readings are in fpm (feet per minute)
Exhaust Filter Length & Width
These fields should be filled in for all tests. This is for the measurements of the exhaust filter. All readings are in inches.
Filter Frame Size
This field is used in all tests. This is the depth of the filter frame. This reading is in inches.
Intake Correction Factor
This field is for the Reduced Intake test only. This reading is in fpm (feet per minute)
Intake Velocity Max & Min
These fields are used in all tests and are used to set the acceptable ranges for Intake Velocity. All readings are in fpm (feet per minute)
Reduced Intake Area Length & Width
These fields are used in the Reduced Intake test. These are the dimensions of the reduced filter. All readings are in inches.
Standard Downflow Velocity Max & Min
These fields are for the Standard test and are used to set the acceptable ranges for Downflow Velocity. All readings are in fpm (feet per minute)
Supply Filter Length & Width
These fields are for all tests. This defines the size of the supply filter. All readings are in inches.
Test Method
This field has a drop down menu where the user decides which test is to be performed. The choices are “Direct Exhaust”, “Direct Intake” & “Reduced Intake”. The test chosen will determine which fields will need to be filled in. These three tests will be explained further in this document.
Test Number of Readings
This field is used in all tests. This field will determine how many readings will be taken for the average to be calculated.
Velocity Profile # of Columns & Rows
This field is used in all tests. This field will determine how many readings (rows & columns) will be taken for the average to be calculated.
Velocity Profile Test Type
This field will determine the type of test to be performed; Zoned or Standard. Different tests will require different fields to be filled in

Entering Calibration Records
Once a Test Point Group has been created for a master item record that uses the Bio-Safety Cabinet Test Type, a Calibration record can be created and data can be entered on the Test Results tab on the Calibration screen. It should be noted that the required inputs must be entered on the master item record as detailed above. The only tab that will have any changes is the Test Results tab. (See figure 4 below) All other calibration information is the same, see Section 24 (Calibration Records) of the User Manual for more information.
Test Results
The Test Results tab for the Bio-Safety Cabinet will have two additional fields; “Additional Test Type Inputs” & “Test Type Output”. These fields are not modifiable. There is no grid, and all entries are made via the “View/Enter Data” screen. The “Pass”, “Fail” & “Incomplete” radio buttons are still active and one must be selected before you can save your work. The “Modify Specs / Protect Specs” button although active, does not affect the Calibration results. The “Status” drop down field is active as in other Calibrations.

View/Enter Data
Selecting this button will open the Bio-Safety Cabinet screen where data can be entered. Each test will have 5 screens. There will be navigation buttons at the bottom to move between pages, or you may select the page from the list on the right. The “Apply” button is used to save the changes entered. The “Close” button is to exit out of Test Type screen.
Downflow Velocity
This page will have a grid for entering data and fields automatically filled in for low, high & average readings. Only the grid is modifiable. See figure 5 below

This page will have a grid for entering data and fields automatically filled in for Exhaust Average, Calculated Intake Velocity & Exhaust Volume. The Supply Volume field will be calculated from page 1 (Downflow Velocity) Only the grid is modifiable. See figure 6 below

Reports
A Calibration Report can be printed for your entered Calibration which displays all Calibration details for the Bio-Safety Cabinet test. With the Calibration record open, select Reports, and Bio-Safety Cabinet.
